Description
“In Reverence” is the composer’s earliest published song cycle, composed while a student at the Yale School of Music. Emily Dickinson’s poems speak of prayer, everlasting life, Heaven, and other spiritual subjects, hence the title of the cycle. Dickinson’s poems approach these serious subjects with reverence, but also with humor and hope, all aspects reflected in the music of these songs.
